Communication network of substation automation system based on IEC 61850 standard

The communication network of substation automation system based on IEC 61850 standard needs not only the network technology regulated by specific communication service mapping in the standard,but also the modeling of the network equipments and data information,which needs to use object-oriented technology and follow the model provided in the standard. The network must pass the conformance testing to ensure the equipments' interoperability and achieve data sharing. This paper introduces the development background of IEC 61850-communication networks of substation and a series of international standards,analyzes the contents and main characteristics of the standard,summarizes the relation and differences between IEC 61850 standard and other existing power system communication protocols. According to that,it proposes seamless communication power system structure based on IEC 61850 standard.
