Abstract

Objective:To investigate correlation between the expression of gene proteins Fas,FasL in exhepatic bile duct cancer and the development of the carcinoma. Methods:Immunohistochemical S P method was used to examine the expression of Fas,FasL protein in 22 cases of cholangiocarcinoma and 10 cases of bile duct cyst. Results:The positive rate of Fas(45.45%) in cholangiocarcinoma decreased significantly(P0.05),while that of FasL(72.73%) increased remarkably(P0.05). The positive rate of Fas was lower in the low differentiation and metastasis groups(P0.05). The positive FasL expression was inversely proportional to the stage Ⅲ~Ⅳ and metastasis of the carcinoma. The survival rate was significantly higher in patients with FasL+Fas than that of the rest(P0.01).Conclusion:The down regulation of Fas and up regulation of FasL in cholangiocarcinoma indicates that the imbalance of Fas/FasL system might play a role in the escape of tumor cells from immune surveillance and predicts the malignant behavior of the carcinoma. The detection of Fas,FasL may be useful in assessing the development of the cancer and judging prognosis.
