Expression and correlation of Survivin and VEGF in condyloma acuminatum

Abstract

Objective:To measure the expression and to determine the correlation of Survivin and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in the lesions of Condyloma Acuminatum (CA). Methods:Survivin and VEGF were measured with immunohistochemical technique in 51 cases of CA and 15 specimens of normal skin. Results: The expressions of Survivin and VEGF in CA were 60% (34/51) and 78.4% (40/51),respectivly,in normal skin were 6.7% (1/15) and 26.7% (4/15)(both P 0.01). There was strong positive relation ship between Survivin and VEGF in CA (x2=17.5,P 0.01). Conclusion: Survivin and VEGF may play important roles in the development of CA,and their effect in CA is synergetic.
