Expression of Survivin Gene in Bladder Tumour

Objective To study the relationship between expression of Survivin gene and biological behavior of bladder tumor. Methods To reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) detecting the expression of Survivin gene in 16 cases with normal tissue of bladder, papillate tumor in 12 cases and transitional cell cancer of bladder(TCC) in 59 cases. Result Survivin gene showed higher expression in TCC. The rate of positive-expression was 76.27%.The positive rate was 16.67%(2/12) and 0(0/16) in transitional cell papilla tumour and normal tissue of bladder. The difference was significant between the three tissues(P0.01). The expression of the Survivin was not correlated with other biological behavior of bladder tumor. Conclusion The up-regulation of Survivin gene in TCC suggests that surviving play a role in the pathway of carcinogenesis. The Survivin is closely related to the apoptosis-suppression. They might play synergetic role in the course.
