Abstract

Objective: To compare the effect of Caldwell-Luc surgery and endoscopy for invasive fungal sinusitis of maxillary sinus.Method: Caldwell-Luc operation was performed on 12 patients with pure invasive, and endoscopic sinus surgery was performed on 18 patients with fungal sinusitis of maxillary sinus combined with ethmoid sinusitis. Results: Of the patients performed Caldwell-Luc operation, 11 were cured with a ratio of 91.67%,and of those performed endoscopic sinus surgery,16 were cured with a ratio of 88.89%.There was no significant difference between the two methods on the cure rate. Conclusion: Both Caldwell-Luc and endoscopic sinus surgery have good effect for invasive fungal sinusitis of maxillary sinus.
