Abstract
Objective To explore the situation and related factors for awareness of cancer prevention knowledge among community residents.Methods Four hundreds and eighty-five community residents in Shanghai were enrolled to complete a questionnaire survey. Results Among all respondents,the awareness rate of the early symptoms of cancer was over 70%.The awareness rate of different risk factors of cancer varied greatly from 62.7% to 86.6%.Ninty-three percent of the respondents was aware that regular physical examination was the main measure to detect cancer early.The awareness rate of lifestyle to prevent cancer was over 85%.Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that being male,industry workers / farmers or business staff,and being divorced or widowed were significantly associated with unawareness of cancer prevention knowledge.Conclusion Weakness of some knowledge points still existed in some high-risk groups,so efforts should be targeted to strengthen the dissemination and education of cancer prevention for community residents.
