Abstract
Based on investigation of building damages caused by earthquakes in rural area of China,the characteristics of all kinds of building disasters is summarized.The main reasons of various damages are analyzed and some lessons in the selection of sites,construction and fortification against earthquake etc.for buildings in rural area are listed.Also,differences in earthquake resistance for foundations with different material are analyzed by finite element analysis.In this paper,some suggestions for enhancing ability of buildings in rural area to resist earthquakes are proposed.
