Abstract

Objective: To observe the clinical curative effect of acupuncture with plenitudinous moxibustion on knee osteoarthritis. Methods:The 70 patients were randomly divided into acupuncture with plenitudinous moxibustion group and moxibustion with needle group, 35 cases in each. Patients were treated with acupuncture, plenitudinous moxibustion through moxa box in acupuncture with plenitudinous moxibustion group, and warmed needle in moxibustion with needle group. The clinical efficacy and total score of WOMAC were compared between the two groups after 2 course of treatment. Results:The WOMAC score were significantly decreased(P0.01), in groups. there was statistically significant difference on WOMAC between Acupuncture with plenitudinous moxibustion group and moxibustion with needle group(P0.05)after 2 courses. The total effective rate of acupuncture with plenitudinous moxibustion group was 94.3%, and the total effective rate of moxibustion with needle group was 85.7%; there was significant difference between two groups(P0.05). Conclusion:Acupuncture combined with plenitudinous moxibustion therapy can effectively alleviate thepermeability in patients with knee osteoarthritis pain, relieve other symptoms and improve knee function.
