Abstract
Schiff bases of chitosan have excellent metal ion chelating ability, but reaction time is long, and the condensation degree is low when prepared by traditional method. In order to shorten the reaction time of the condensation reaction of chitosan with benzaldehyde and improve the condensation rate.Ultrasonic field was introduced to strengthen the condensation reaction, and the reaction conditions were optimized by orthogonal design experiment.A condensation degree of 92.99% which was more 19.03% than that of traditional method was achieved using the optimized conditions: i.e.ultrasonic irradiation at 180 W for 4 h,pH 5.0,and benzaldehyde∶chitosan ratio of 6∶1.
