Abstract

The separation of ethyl acetate-ethanol binary azeotropic mixture was carried out in an experimental vacuum batch extractive distillation column, with N,N-dimethylformamide(DMF) as the solvent. The influence of operation parameters including operation pressure, reflux ratio(volume ratio) and solvent ratio(volume ratio) on the separation process was examined. The result shows that the effect of separation can be enhanced by reducing pressure, increasing the reflux ratio and solvent volume ratio. The optimal conditions of separation in batch extractive distillation under vacuum operation were obtained as follows: operation pressure 10 kPa,reflux ratio 3 and solvent volume ratio 1;and the mass fraction of ethyl acetate in the product at the top of column is more than 97%.
