Clinical Observation of Acupoint Catgut Embedding for Supraspinatus Tendinitis:A Report of 35 Cases

Abstract

Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy of acupoint catgut embedding for supraspinatus tendinitis.Methods:Seventy patients were equally randomized into two groups,35 cases in each group.The treatment group received acupoint catgut embedding and the control group was treated with simple acupuncture.The pain score and therapeutic effect were evaluated after four courses of treatment.Results:The score of visual analogue scale(VAS) in both groups after treatment was lower than those before treatment(P 0.05),and the difference of VAS score before and after treatment in the treatment group differed from that in the control group(P 0.05).The total effective rate was 97.1% in the treatment group and was 77.1% in the control group,the difference being significant(P 0.05).Conclusion:Acupoint catgut embedding is superior to simple acupuncture in treating supraspinatus tendonitis.
