A NEW GENUS AND SPECIES OF TREMATODES FROM ANDRIAS DAVIDIANUS IN SICHUAN PROVINCE (TREMATODA: DIGENEA)

In this paper a new genus and species of the family Cryptogonimidae are described. All measurements are in mm. All type specimens are deposited in the Department of Veterinary Science, Sichuan Agricultural University. Neoandrincola gen. nov. Generic diagnosis. Cryptogonimidae, Cryptogonlminae. Body small, fusiform, spined. Oral sucker terminal, prepharynx present, pharynx moderately developed, esophagus mod- erately long, caeca not reaching to posterior extremity. Acetabulum smaller than oral suck- er, about one third of body length from anterior extremity. Two gonotyls in immediately anterior and posterior to the acetabulum respectively, anterior gonotyl sucker-like. Gonotyls enclosed together with acetabulum in an acetabulogenital sac. Testes symmetrical, immedi- ately postequatorial, intercaecal. Cirrus and cirrus pouch absent. Seminal vesicle well devel- oped, bipartite, postacetabulum. Hermaphroditic duct short. Genital pore median, between acetabulum and anterior gonotyl. Ovary lobed, equatorial. its posterior part overlapping tes- ticular zone. Seminal receptacle large. Laurer's canal present. Vitellaria dendritic, in lateral fields between oral sucker and intestinal bifurcation. Uterus winding in region behind go- nads and extending forward along lateral fields of body to esophageal field. Eggs small, numerous. Parasitic in intestine of amphibians. Type species: Neoandrincola muchuanensis sp. nov. In all known genera of Cryptogonimidae, genus Bolbogonotylus alone has two gonotyls, but it differs from new genus in anterior gonotyl not sucker-like; testes tandem; ovary pretesticular; vitellaria follicular, in lateral fields between acetabular and ovarian levels; par- asitic in fishes. New genus most similar to genus Andrincola, but the latter differs from new genus in only having one gonotyl, vitellaria extending backward to gonads, uterus only winding field posterior to ovary and testes.
