A NEW SPECIES OF TREMATODES FROM FISHES OF SICHUAN PROVINCE IN CHINA (DIGENEA:UROTREMATIDAE)

In the present paper a new species of digenetic trematodes is described. All measurements are in mm. All type speciments are deposited in the Department of Veterinary Science, Sichuan Agricultural University.Urotrema par allel orchis sp. nov. (figs. 1-3)Body elongated elliptical, spined, 4.825-7.425 × 1.875-2.80. Oral sucker iubterminal, 0.313-0.374 × 0.303-0.404. Prepharynx 0.020-0.070 in length, pharynx 0.101-0.152 × 0.141-0.212, esophagus 0.626-1.162 long, ceca reached to the field between posterior 2/5 and posterior 1/4 of body length. Acetabulum at the junction of anterior with middle third of body, 0.263-0.303 × 0.232-0.293. Testes symmetrical, intercecal, equatorial or preequatorial; left one 0.444- 0.657 × 0.313-0.567, right one 0.424-0.607 × 0.384-0.636. Cirrus pouch placed invertedly at posterior extremity, 0.525-0.929 × 0.152-0.222. Genital pore ventroterminal, on left side of body. Ovary between acetabulum and right testis, on right side of body, 0.323-0.444 × 0.283-0.414. Seminal receptacle 0.162-0.374 × 0.131-0.293. Laurer's canal present. Uterus winding between testes and posterior extremity of body. Vitelline follicles extending in lateral fields from the level of anterior margin of acetabulum to testicle fields. Eggs 0.025-0.028 × 0.015-0.018. Excretory vesicle Y-shaped.Host Hemimyzon abbreviate, Lepturichthys fimibriata.Location Intestine.Locality Hongya County (29°57'N, 103°24'E), Sichuan Province.Types Holotype 1, paratypes 9.The new species differs from all the known species of the genus Urotrema in testes symmetrical.
