Clinical Observation on Low Dose Cisplatinum (DDP) Combined with 5-Fluorouracil for Late Castrointestinal Carcinoma

Objective To observe the effects and sideeffects of low dose cisplatinum (DDP) combined with 5-fluorouracil(5-Fu) for late gastrointestinal carcinoma.Methods From september 1998 to August 2000,the patients in our hospital who had late gastrointestinal carcinoma were randomly divided into two groups;the testing group,with the low dose of DDP combined with 5-Fu regimen,no watering therapy,the control group,with the large dose of DDP combined with 5-Fu regimen,assisting watering therapy,ceasing nausea and vomiting,and increasing white blood cell.Results In the testing group,the overall response rate (CR+PR) was 59.5%,and three patients had complete response.In the control group the overall response rate (CR+PR) was 32.0%,and two patients had complete response ( P 0 05).Nausea,vomiting,leakopenia,etc in the testing group had happened less often than those in the control group ( P 0.05).Conclusion ①When low dose DDP is combined with 5-Fu,they ineract by biochemical modulation,which increases the effects of the drugs.②The low dose DDP combined with 5-Fu regimen for late gastrointestinal carcinoma has least toxicity and side-effects,so the patients can tolerate and receive it.The regimen is worth utilizing extensively.
