Efficacy of removable titanium alloy periodontal splints in fixing loosened teeth

Objective: To discuss the clinical effects of removable titanium alloy periodontal splints in fixing loosened teeth of chronic periodontitis.Methods: Sixty patients with chronic periodontitis admitted to our hospital from July 2008 to July 2009 were chosen and divided into treatment group(30 cases) and control group(30 cases) randomly.The treatment group adopted titanium alloy periodontal splints to fix 230 loosened teeth while the control group fixed 212 loosened teeth by using ligation.LHLY type transducer for tooth mobility was used to monitor varies of teeth mobility before and after the treatment.Results:The clinical effective rates showed by reexamination one year after the treatment for treatment group was 93% and 82% for the control group.The treatment group was significantly better than the control group(P0.05).Conclusions: Removable titanium alloy periodontal splints have definite therapeutic effects in fixing loosened teeth of chronic periodontitis.It is an ideal treatment for fixing loosened teeth of chronic periodontitis.
