Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of total pelvic floor reconstruction in the treatment of older women with severe pelvic organ prolapse(POP).Methods Ninety patients with severe POP were divided into two groups,forty-six patients in observation group were treated with total pelvic floor reconstruction with Prolift system, while forty-four patients in control group were treated with traditional surgical method. The clinical effect was compared between two groups. Results The operation time, intraoperative bleeding, retention catheter time, length of stay and postoperative exhaust time in observation group were significantly less than those in control group(P0.01).The scores of pelvic floor impact questionnaire-7 and pelvic floor distress inventory-20 in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group(P0.05),but the score of pelvic organ prolaps/urinary incontinence sexual questionnaire-12 in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group(P0.05).Conclusion Total pelvic floor reconstruction for the treatment of older women with severe POP is effective with good pelvic floor function, fewer adverse reactions and less impact on the patient′s quality of life and sexual life.
