An Exploration on Mr. Gu Mingyuan's Comparative Education Thoughts

Mr. Gu Mingyuan is China's famous contemporary educational ist and one of the important founders of new China's comparative education. His comparative education thoughts have been constantly developed and improved at different stages of his life, i.e. his study at Beijing Normal University, in the for mer Soviet Union, at the early phrase of the new China and after the reform and opening-up. He has written extensively on the character of comparative educa tion as a study field, its research objectives, and research methods, which laid the foundation for the development of comparative education in new China. Mr. Gu Mingyuan's comparative education thoughts exhibit strong patriotic feelings, distinct features of the times, and clear orientations towards practice etc.
