Analysis of 90 cases on reduction of postpartum bleeding by misoprostol

Objective To observe the effe ct of misoprostol on reduction of postpartum bleeding.Methods Nin ety primiparas were divided randomly into three groups:misoprostol group(n=30),400μg misoprostol was given orally after delivery of baby,misp rostol and oxytocin group(n=30),400μg misoprostol was given or ally and 10 IU oxytocin was injected into muscle after delivery,oxytocin group( n=30),10 IU oxytocin was injected into muscle and 20 IU intrave nous injection immediately after delivery.The amount of bleeding within 2 hours after delivery was measured.Results The mean amount of bleeding in misoprostol group was 142±56.0ml,in misoprostol and oxytocin group was 138 ±55.4ml,oxytocin group was 275±64.7ml,respectively.The difference was signific ant(P0.01) between misoprostol group and oxytocin group,there was no differences between misoprostol group and misoprostol plus oxytocin group (P0.05).Conclusion Misoprostol is more effect ive in reduction of postpartum bleeding than that of oxytocin.
