Clinical analysis of 48 case with nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses inverted papilloma

Abstract

Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics and evaluate courses of recurrence on nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses inverted papilloma.Methods 48 cases operated between 1997 and 2005,with nasal catity and paranasal sinuses inverted papilloma in stageⅠ-Ⅲ were retrospectively analysed according to the staging system developed by Krouse.All patients were treated with intronasal endscopic surgery,and followed up for 1to 5 years.Results The inverted papilloma was removed completely and no serious complications encountered.No recurrence was occurred in follow-up period.Conclusion Endoseopic surgery is an effective treatment for nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses inverted papilloma in stage Ⅰ-Ⅲ,and should be used as the first line treatment.
