Endoscopic sinus surgery for the treatment of inverted papilloma of nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses

Objective:To investigate the clinic significance of the intranasal endoscopic approach in treatment of inverted papilloma of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. Method:Eleven patients with inverted papilloma of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses were operated by endoscopic surgery.There were 10 males and 1 female,ranging in age from 32 to 68 years old.The period of follow-up was 6～70 months.Result:No one recurred in the follow-up period. Conclusion:The endoscopic surgery technique is proved successfully in the treatment of inverted papilloma of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses, even in large lesions affecting the posterior ethmoid sinus or the sphenoid sinus.Patients with inverted papilloma would benefit from this surgical technique,which remaine minimally invasive and prevent damage the patients′ cosmetic features.
