Abstract

Objective To evaluate the difference of intradiscal and intervertebral foramen injection with ozone and betamethasone compound to treat lumbar disc herniation about the short-term clinical effects. Methods 64 patients with the symptoms of sciatica and low back pain were selected and divided in two groups randomly, including 28 cases with disc bulging,36 protrusion diagnosed by CT or MRI. control group(31 cases)were intradiscal and intervertebral foramen injected with ozone only and study group(33 cases)were intradiscal and intervertebral foramen injected with ozone and betamethasone compound. The clinical results were assessed separately according to improved Macnab method and VAS 1day,5 days,3 months after treatment. Results The excellent and good rate of the two groups were 96.97%,93.94%and77.19%,74.19% respectively at 1 day and 5 day after treatment, which has a statistical difference(P0.05). The excellent and good rate of the two groups was 87.88% and 80.65% respectively at 3 months after treatment, which has no statistical difference(P0.05). Conclusion The method of ozone and betamethasone compound injection into lumbar intervetebral disc and foramen is a effective method for the treatment of the lumbar disc herniation. It improves the pain reief and the short-term clinical effects.
