Abstract

The paper involves a study of current researches on Enghish translation of Zhongyong in China which is one of the most important Confucian classics.The result shows that the Zhongyong researchers focus mainly on the Gu Hongming's translation version,admiring his domesticating translation strategy,while Legge's translation text is regarded as the symbol of colonialism.The study suggests that the Gu Hongming's translation model should be borrowed and much improved to increase the quantity of Chinese classics translation by the domestic translators,and the contrastive study,interdisciplinary and intercultural study should be adopted by the future research,the target readers' responses and criticism should be noticed by classics' translators at home.
