A Comparison of Lrbesartan Tablets and Lrbesartan and HydrochloRothiazide Tablets for Treatment of Patients with Hypertension

Aim To compare the clinical effects of Irbesartan Tablets and Irbesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets in the treatment of hypertension.Methods Eighty patients with essential hypertension were randomly divided into two groups.The Irbesartan Tablet group(n=40) was treated with Irbesartan tablets 150mg per day while.Irbesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets group(n=40) was treated with Irbesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide tablets 150mg per day.The course of treatment was 8 weeks.Blood pressure and some biochemical parameters,such as liver and renal function,blood potassium,blood uric-acid and blood lipid,were evaluated before and after treatment.Result After 8 weeks of treatment,the effective rate of blood pressure control was 85% and 90% respectively without marked side-effects(P 0.05).Conclusion Irbesartan Tablets and Irbesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets are effective and safe in the treatment of hypertension.
