Abstract

Objective To evaluate efficacy of miconazole and nystatin in cases with recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis(RVVC).Methods A randomized controlled clinical trail was conducted to compare the treatment effect of miconazole pessary(400 mg/d) and nystatin tablet(1 million units/day) which were put into vagina per night for one week. Results The symptom scores of the two groups were greatly decreased after therapy(P0.01).The cure rates in miconazole group and nystatin group were 74.0%(37/50) and 93.88%(46/49).There was significant statistical difference between the two groups(P0.05).The recurrent rates two months after therapy in miconazole group and nystatin group were 16.22%(6/37) and 13.04%(6/46) respectively. There was no significant statistical difference between the two groups(P0.05).The analysis of the total efficacy of the two groups reveales that the nystatin group had the better treatment result. Conclusion The clinical data demonstrates that nystatin is effective and safe for the treatment of RVVC,and its clinical efficacy is better than miconazole.
