Abstract

Qian Zhongshu's new approach to the Songs of Chu can be summarized as the following two aspects. One is the comparative study be twee n Chinese culture and Western culture. Based on his solid foundation, he takes a dvantage of inspiration from both sides to interpret the Songs of Chu . The o ther is the association of interpretation and analysis. He combines poetry study with textual criticism and therefore a breakthrough is made to make a new contr ibution to the study of the Songs of Chu .
