Abstract

Objective To explore the pathological changes of liver, kidney and brain in mice exposed to Nano-Fe3O4.Methods Forty healthy Kunmimg mice were randomly divided into control group, exposure nano-Fe3O4 groups with 2 mg/kg,1 mg/kg and 0.5 mg/kg,10 mice in each group. The intraperitoneal injection was taken with one time every two days, and the control group intraperitoneal injection with the same volume of physiological saline. The mice were killed after 2 weeks of exposure. The pathological changes in liver, kidney and brain were examined. Results The pathological changes in liver was seen as disorganized cords of liver cells, indistinct cell boundary and death cell in high dose group and the pathological changes in kidney could be observed such as uneven cytosolic distribution, irregular lumen of distal convoluted tubule, atrophy of some glomerulus of kidney.Lumenal stenosis and cellular swelling of renal tubular acidosis could be observed in high dose group, even pastel floccule were seen in tubule. But no change could be observed in the control group. Conclusion Nano-Fe3O4 may induce damage in the liver and kidney in mice.
