Influence of early enteral nutrition during preoperative and postoperative periods on postoperative immunologic function in elderly patients with colorectal cancer

OBJECTIVE To study the influence of early enteral nutrition during preoperative and postoperative periods on postoperative immunologic function in elderly patients with colorectal cancer.METHODS A total of 87 cases of elderly patients with colorectal cancer were randomly divided into treatment and control groups.In treatment group,44 patients received early enteral nutritional support treatment at the time of one week before surgery and 24 hours after surgery.In the control group,43 cases were given early enteral nutrition therapy 24 hours after surgery.RESULTS The CD3+,CD4+,CD16+,CD56+ and CD4+/CD8+ ratio and IgA,IgG and IgM levels of treatment group one day before surgery were significantly increased,CD8+ significantly decreased compared with the control group.The CD3+,CD4+,CD16+CD56+ and CD4+/CD8+ ratio and IgA,IgG and IgM levels of treatment group nine day after surgery were significantly increased,and CD8+ significantly decreased compared with the control group,there was statistically significant(P﹤0.05).There were not obvious side effects in treatment group and control group after giving enteral nutrition therapy.CONCLUSION Early enteral nutrition therapy during preoperative and postoperative in elderly patients with colorectal cancer can improve the immune function of patients before surgery,and promote the recovery of patients.
