Abstract
Due to the mechanical simplicity and the stability of energy dissipation capacity,several types of friction dampers have been widely employed in full-scale structures as an effective energy dissipation device.The constructions,types and performance of the friction dampers and their engineering applications are presented.Further researches on invention and application of the friction dampers are proposed in the end.
