Abstract
The color reaction of zincⅡwith 2-[(5-bromo-2-pyridyl)-azo]-5-diethylaminophenol(5-Br-PADAP) was investigated in the presence of surfactant such as cetyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTMAB),Tween-20,Triton X-100 in the ammonia-ammonium chloride buffer solution(pH8 5) It was found that CTMAB had the best enhanced sensitivity effect. Based on this a spectrophotometric method for determination of trace zinc was proposed The red complex of ZnⅡ with 5-Br-PADAP has a maximum absorptivity at 555nm The apparent molar absorptivity is 1 37×10 5L·mol -1 ·cm -1 Beer’s law is obeyed in the range of 0-15μg/25mL for zinc This method has been applied to the determination of trace zinc in aluminium alloy with satisfactory results
