Abstract
Aim:To detect the expression of cell adhesion molecule CD44V6 in gastric cancer tissue and investigate its clinical significance. Methods:Flow cytometry was used to detect the expression of CD44V6 in 96 cases of gastric cancer tissue and 20 cases of gastric ulcer tissue as well as their corresponding normal stomach mucosa tissue. Results: Positive expression of CD44V6 was detected in the above 4 kinds of tissue. Positive expression rate of CD44V6 in gastric cancer(64.5%,62/96) was significantly higher than those in normal stomach mucosa adjacent to cancer(27.1%,26/96),ulcer(25.0%,5/20),and the normal tissue adjacent to ulcer (20.0%, 4/20), respectively, P0.05. The expression level of CD44V6 in gastric cancer was related to the depth of tumor infiltration, lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis and TNM clinic-pathological staging (P0.05), respectively. Conclusion: The detection of CD44V6 expression in gastric cancer is helpful to estimate tumor invasion, metastasis and tumor staging, and higher expression of CD44V6 always suggests poor clinical properties and later TNM stages of gastric cancer.
