Comparative Study of Pterygium Excision Combined with Limbal Stem Cell Transplantation and Traditional Surgery

Objective To investigate the effect and value of pterygium excision combined with limbal stem cell transplantation in treating pterygium.Methods All 65 patients with unilateral pterygium 96 eyes were randomly divided into pterygium excision combined with limbal stem cell transplantation group and simple pterygium surgery group.The clinical effect was compared between two groups.Results Cure rate of pterygium excision combined with limbal stem cell transplantation group was significantly higher than that simple pterygium surgery group,recurrence rate and the incidence of postoperative infectious keratitis were lower than that simple pterygium surgery group,the difference was statistically significant(P0.05).Conclusion Pterygium excision combined with limbal stem cell transplantation in treating pterygium is effective and should be widely applied.
