Research of current status of township hospital service capabilities in minority regions of Sichuan province

Objective:To investigate the total number of township hospitals in minority regions of Sichuan Province,the quantity of equipments,the human resource information,and the service capabilities.Methods:Self-made questionnaire was used to survey the township hospitals in 60 minority counties in Sichuan.Results:There are 1180 township hospitals in 52 minority counties that returned survey data,which are 208 central township hospitals and 972 general township hospitals.The majority professional titles of the medical personnel are low rank titles.The equipments are lack.The medical services of the hospitals are not well developed,among them,surgery treatments are the worst.The operating expenses are higher than the revenue in many hospitals.Conclusions:The government's health investment to township hospitals should be strengthened,and the structure and the direction of the investment should be adjusted.The stable two-way personnel exchange and support mechanism should be established to improve the quality of the medical personnel.The county-township hospitals service expansion network should be established to promote the service capabilities of township hospitals.
