Abstract

Logical metonymy was mainly studied in the field of the generative lexicon theory proposed by Pustejovsky. However, the ineffective explanation of the generative lexicon encourages a cognitive-semantic perspective to study logical metonymy due to its cognitive tendency.Constructing an element-highlighting framework based on Fillmore's semantic frame and Croft's cognitive highlighting, logical metonymy is interpreted as a kind of meaning realization of conceptual metonymy in the syntactic level.
