A survey and analysis of rural sports in national border areas of Hunan, Hubei, Chongqing and Guizhou

The authors investigated the current state of rural sports in border areas of Hunan,Hubei,Chongqing and Guizhou,probed into the current state and characteristics of rural sports in these areas,analyzed problems existing in the development of rural sports in these areas and their affecting factors,and revealed the following findings: the rural sports population in these areas is far less than the rural sports population in China in proportion;the sports leadership structure and organizational structure are far from perfected;the sources of sports organization and man-agement fund are undiversified;ideological conceptions are backward,and peasants’ sports awareness is weak;the economic foundation is unsubstantial,and sports consumption level is very low;the restriction of geographic loca-tion is the main reason that affects the development of rural sports in these areas.The authors offered the following suggestions: the government should input more funds for rural sports activities;laws and legislations that ensure peasants to have the right to sports activities should be established and perfected,dedicated sports staff should be provided for rural areas,and various cultural and sports activities with local features should be deployed,so as to boost the development of rural sports in these areas.
