Clinical evaluation of the endovascular embolization with Guglielmi detachable coils in the cerebral aneurysm treatment

Objective:To report experience of the endovascular embolization with Guglielmi detachable coils (GDC) in 6 patients with cerebral aneurysm.Methods:Cerebral aneurysm were confirmed in 6 patients by CT,MR and DSA.Among them 4 aneurysms located in posterior communicating artery, one in anterior communicating artery,and one in C 2 segment.The diameter of aneurysm body was measured ranging from 5 mm to 20 mm.It was embolized with GDC,and the qualification of coils were selected according to the size,form and rate of body/neck to make the aneurysm embolized densely.Results:All patients were successfully embolized.The technical success rate was 100%.The filling degree was above 95%.The clinical situation take a turn for the better apparently and no complications occured.Conclusion:Endovascular embolization with GDC for the treatment of cerebral aneurysm is a safe,effective and micro-traumatic means.
