Endovascular embolization in treatment of intracranial aneurysm with Guglielmi detachable coil

Objective To discuss the effect of aneurysm embolization with Guglielmi detachable coils(GDC) and the technical criteria.Methods A total of 31 patients were treated with GDC under DSA for whole brain vessels through the way of microcatheter approach. Results Of the total 31 aneurysms,28 were completely embolized and 3 reached 95% occlusion.30 cases recovered clinically and 1 died with 3.2% mortality.the complications included 1 case of rerupture during operation and 1 with escaping of coil terminal tip.No rebleeding occurred in the 0.5-3 years of follow up.Conclusions Endovascular embolization with GDC for the treatment of cerebral aneurysm is a safe,effective and microtraumatic mean.Early embolization and effective post-operation management is an important way to improve the curative rate.
