Study of the expression of p73 and VEGF in cervical lesions

Abstract
Objective To study the expression and distribution of p73 and VEGF protein in chronic cervicitis,cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN)and cervical cancer,and to analyze their correlations. Methods p73 protein and VEGF protein were examined immunohistochemically in 96 cervical specimens ,consisting of chronic cervicitis(n=18),cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(n=48) and cervical cancer(n=30).Results (1)The expression of p73 was found in cell nucleus.The positive ratio of p73 in chronic cervicitis,cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN)and cervical cancer were 11.11%(2/18),54.17%(26/48),90%(27/30) respectively.The expression of p73 was significantly increased compared with chronic cervicitis,cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN)(P0.05).(2)The expression of VEGF was found in cytoplasm.The positive ratio of VEGF in chronic cervicitis,cervical intraepithe-lial neoplasia(CIN)and cervical cancer were22.22 %(4/18),60.42%(29/48),93.33%(28/30) respectively. The expression of VEGF was significantly increased compared with chronic cervicitis,cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN)(P0.05).(3)Both of the p73 and VEGF expressions increased with the progression of cervical lesions.The analysis showed that p73 Expression and VEGF were significantly correlated.Conclusion p73 protein in cervicallesions is related to the VEGF protein in cervical lesions
