Adverse Drug Reactions Reported in Our Hospital:Analysis of 311 Cases

Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the characteristics and general pattern of the adverse drug reactions (ADR) occurred in our hospital, and to provide reference for rational use of drugs in the clinic. METHODS: A total of 311 ADR cases collected in our hospital during 2005-2009 were analyzed statistically in respect of patients’ age and sex, route of administration, drug category, serious ADR, drug combination, ADR-involved organs or systems and clinical manifestations, etc. RESULTS: Of the total 311 ADR cases, 11 categories or 72 kinds of drugs were involved, anticancer drug took up the lead place which caused ADRs in 141 cases (45.34%), followed by antimicrobial drugs which caused ADR in 102 cases (32.80%) . 256 ADR cases (82.32%) were induced by intravenous administration. Lesions of skin and its appendants were the most common clinical manifestations of the ADR, which appeared in 110 cases (33.13%). 61 were severe cases (19.61%). CONCLUSION: Medical staff should strengthen the ADR monitoring and reporting so as to promote rational use of drugs in the clinic and ensure patient’s safety of drug use.
