Abstract
Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of benzalkonium chloride used for cleaning and disinfection of orthopaedic open wound. Methods 60 cases of patients with emergency trauma in the author's hospital were selected and randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 30 cases in each group, the observation group were given 0.1% benzalkonium chloride for cleaning and disinfection of the wound, the rinse order was 0.1% benzalkonium chloride solutiondistilled water-hydrogen peroxide-saline.The control group was given conventional iodophor disinfection of wounds. Before and after disinfectant rinse, swab was used to fetch the wound specimens for bacterial culture, then colony number before and after rinsing was observed and disinfection effect of two groups were compared. Results Before rinsing, the number of two groups compared, the difference was not statistically significant(P0.05),but after washing, the colony number and decrement rate of observation group were all significantly better than the control group(P 0.05).Conclusion 0.1% benzalkonium chloride used in rinse of orthopedic open wound can significantly reduce the number of wound bacteria, with significant local killing and sterilization effect,so it is worthy of application.
