The Success and Failure of Imitating the Calligraphy Style of Ming and Qing Dynasty

The calligraphy style of Ming and Qing Dynasty is the important object to imitate for contemporary calligraphists. It reflects the changing of the calligraphists' taste . But because of the lack of rational analysis and elimination of the disadvantages of the calligraphy style of Ming and Qing Dynasty, it leads to the extremity. This paper criticizes the trends of lacking rational aesthetics、pursuing unshaped and exhibiting effect. It also points out , to acquire the essence of calligraph, calligraphists should spurn the utilitarianism, emphasize the inner self-experience.
