Analysis of Death from Injury among Residents in Penglai from 2004 to 2005

[Objective]To understand the death from injury,analyze the causes of death and distribution,provide scientific basis for injury control and prevention.[Methods]Data of death from injury collected from the surveillance of causes of death among the residents in Penglai from 2004 to 2005 were analyzed.[Results]492 and 444 death cases from injury in 2004 and 2005 were reported,the mortality was 110.18/100 000 and 99.69/100 000 respectively.Standardized mortality was 88.63/100 000 and 80.27/100 000 respectively.The average mortality was 104.94/100 000.It was 145.73/100 000 in male and 64.01/100 000 in female.It was 28.21/100 000,71.92/100 000,116.34/100 000,128.79/100 000 and 377.45/100 000 among the people aged from 0 to 14,14 to 34,35 to 54,55 to 74 and the people over 75 respectively.The main causes of death were traffic accidents(332),suicides(277),unknown injury(129) and falling(75).The main cause of death among male was traffic accident,accounted for 39.32% while suicide was the main cause of death among female,accounting for 41.40%.The average life expectancy was lost by 22.70 years caused by injury.[Conclusion]The mortality from injury among residents in Penglai was high,the main causes of death were traffic accident and suicide.
