Abstract
Objective To investigate the role of video-assisted thoracoscopic pleural biopsy(VATS) in the treatment of malignant pleural effusion, and to observe the efficacy of larger dose of talc on treatment of malignant pieural effusion. Methods 30 patients with malignant pleural effusion were performed with VATS,and large doses of talc(10-30 g) were used to fixe pleural. Results The rate of final correct diagnosis was 100% in 30 cases with malignant pleural effusion, and the response rate was 93.3%.Conclusion It is an effective way to diagnose and treat the malignant pleural effusion with video-assisted thoracoscopic pleural biopsy and the larger doses of talc pleurodesis.
