Abstract

Objective The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of aminolevulinic-acid photodynamic therapy(ALA-PDT)combined with carbon dioxide(CO2)laser therapy on patients with condyloma accuminata(CA).Methods Thirty-seven patients with CA were treated with combination of ALA-PDT and CO2 laser therapy, and forty-one patients with CA were treated with CO2 laser therapy only, respectively. Results Of combination treated group,31 of 37(83.78%),6 of 37(16.22%) exhibited clinical cleared, recurred respectively after a follow-up of 3 months. The corresponding figures of CO2 laser treated group were 25 of 41(60.98%),16 of 41(39.02%),respectively.Conclusion The study indicated that the combined treatment of ALA-PDT and CO2 laser therapy showed better clear rates, compared with that of CO2 laser therapy.ALA-PDT can reduce the recurrence rate of CA farther based on the initial CO2 laser therapy.
