Abstract
AIM:To investigate the clinical effect of titanium post core in restoring posterior teeth with non-parallel root canal. METHODS:180 cases of the massive defect of posterior teeth with non-parallel root canal were selected after root canal therapy. The cases were divided into 3 groups,with 60 cases in each group. Titanium-reinforced post core ( group A) ,glass fiber-reinforced post core ( group B) and elinvar post core( group C) were used to restore the defects. Evaluation of the clinical outcomes was performed at the 1 month,6 month and 12 month follow-up. RESULTS:After one month,the success rate of all three groups are 100. 0%. After 6 and 12 month,the success rate of group A was 100. 0%. The success rate of group B decreased a little but there was no significant difference between group B and group A. The success rates of group C at 6 month and 12 month were significantly lower than that of Group A and Group B. CONCLUSION:The titanium post is worth being promoted in restoring posterior teeth with non-parallel root canal because of its good biocompatibility and restoration outcome.
