Study of Relationship in Economic Growth,Environmental Quality and Industrial Structure in Shaanxi

This paper,based on the framework of environmental Kuznets curve,study the relationship of economic growth,environmental pollution and industrial Structure,using panel data model from 2000 to 2007 of the ten regions in Shaanxi.The study found: since development of the western region starting,with the continued economic growth in Shaanxi,the trends of industrial pollution levels will be decreased,then pick up.The industrial pollutants and their increments are small in the areas of lower economic development.They are fast-rising in the areas of middle economic growth.Only a higher level of economic growth,their emissions will begin to decline.The secondary industry rapid developed in Shaanxi,while tertiary industry has developed slowly,and most pillar industries are high-polluting.As a result,a high-pollution feature of the industrial structure in Shaanxi is the main reason for the deterioration of environmental quality.Industrial restructuring toward environment-friendly is major breakthrough to improve the environmental quality in Shaanxi.
