Abstract

Objective In order to elucidate the roles of p53 and nm23 gene in cervical lymph node metastasis of laryngeal cancer. Methods Expressions of p53 protein and nm23 protein were studied by immunohistochemical tainning in the specimens of 42 laryngeal carcinomas. Results The positive expression of nm23 and p53 were 47.62% and 57.10% respectively. The results showed a lymphnificant association between p53 positive expression and cervical node metastasis ( P 0.05). The nm23 negative expression had a significant association with cervical lymph node metastasis ( P 0.05). The laryngeal carcinomas ofp53 positive and nm23 negative in patients with cervical lymph node metastasis were more than that in patients without metasasis. Conclusions Laryngeal cancer with p53 positive and nm23 negative expression is prone to occur cervical lymph node metastasis.
