Abstract
Objective To investigate the roles of p53 and PTEN genes in cervical lymph node metastasis of laryngeal cancer. Methods Expressions of p53 protein and PTEN protein were studied by immunohistochemical staining in the 42 specimens of laryngeal carcinomas. Results The positive expression of p53 and PTEN were 47.62% and 57.14% respectively,p53 and PTEN positive expression were related to with lymph node metastasis. The p53 positive and PTEN negative laryngeal arcinomas in patients with cervical lymph node metastasis were more frequently observed than that in patients without metastasis. Conclusion Laryngeal cancer with p53 positive and PTEN negative expression is prone to occur cervical lymph node metastasis.
