Abstract
The chaos of the traffic flow based on the Car following model is studied. The traffic flow is generated based on Bierley Car following model which is programmed by using MATLAB. The changing processes of space headway of the front vehicle and the following vehicle in the traffic flow are obtained by the simulations. The analysis of the changing processes and the Poincare sections of the changing processes shows that chaos of the traffic flow exists indeed. The influence of the model parameters and the simulation parameters on the movement of the traffic flow is discussed and the relevant simulation results are given. Finally, the useful conclusion for study and application of traffic flow theory is presented.
