Investigation of effects of the cataract surgery and main reasons of low visual acuity after cataract surgery.

[Objective] To know the effects of the cataract surgery,explore the main reasons of visual acuity after cataract surgery,and find ways for improving the visual acuity of cataract patients.[Methods] A survey of 935 patients with cataract surgery in Sichuan was taken by stratified cluster random sampling method.Chi-square test was used for describing and analyzing the distribution of the patients's situation.Logistic regression was used for the main reasons analysis.[Results] 44.06% of the 935 cataract operated eyes had presenting visual acuity 6/18 or better than 6/18.77.86% of the 935 cataract operated eyes had corrected vision acuity 6/18 or better than 6/18.This was far lower than the standard which developed by WHO.Results from the univariate analysis showed that the preoperative poor eyesight was associated with surgical methods,postoperative refractive error situation,postoperative corneal situation,postoperative oculopupillary situation,postoperative intraocular lens situation,PCO/after cataract,postoperative vitreous situation and the situation of eye fundus.Results from the multivariate analysis showed that the preoperative poor eyesight was associated with surgical methods,postoperative refractive error situation,postoperative intraocular lens situation,PCO/after cataract and the situation of eye fundus.[Conclusion] Implementing the surgical with IOL,correcting the refractive errors effectively,giving treatment to PCO/after cataract and the abnormal of the eye fundus will make an important contribution to improve the visual acuity of cataract patients.
