Abstract
Contraposing two erroneous tendencies and practices that wholly westernizing the education system in Europe and America and indiscriminately imitating the mode of education in the former Soviet Union,the educator Xu Teli,in his glorious revolutionary and educational career,has always been consciously resisted the improper tendencies and actively guided the education from thoughts to practices in China.He insists in considering Marxism as the guiding ideology in the development of Chinese modern education,promotes the principles of closely integrating education and work,theory and practice,school and community,opposes dogmatism and empiricism,and emphasizes the need to establish nationalized,scientific and popular culture and education.
